NBCC launched to protect and prevent crime

The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) was officially launched on the 19th October at a special function hosted at New Scotland Yard by the Deputy Commissioner, Craig Mackey QPM. The event was also attended by representatives from police services across the country, the security industry and members of the wider business community. The event was supported on the night by Harrow Police Cadets.

The NBCC will be hosted by the Metropolitan Police Service has been established thanks to a successful bid to the Home Office Police Transformation Fund. It will work to provide a single point of coordination across 43 police forces to tackle business crime across the country.

The NBCC will act as a one-stop-shop for businesses seeking to engage with law enforcement, helping coordination across agencies. In addition, the NBCC will work with existing national policing functions such as the National Counter Terrorism Policing Network to ensure effective communication across the business community on a range of matters.

Deputy Commissioner Mackey said, “The new Centre will begin to harness the huge amount of knowledge within the business community to help tackle crime. It’s important to recognise that this isn’t just about providing a service to the biggest businesses – small businesses are the backbone of the UK economy and are especially vulnerable to the devastating impact of crime. I am confident the NBCC will work effectively across all sectors and sizes.”
