On The Road with the NBCC Team in May 2026
May has been another busy month for the NBCC Team. Rachael has been busy across various projects with work taking place across industry and policing to tackle and address offending caused by addiction. This is to support the work of Supt Cara Charlesworth of Greater Manchester Police, who is leading on Offender Management Strand for the National Tackling Retail Crime Together Strategy.
In early May, Titus attended a roundtable event hosted by Assistant Chief Constable Jenni Gilmer of South Wales Police to look at ways private security and policing can work together to maximise the opportunities. The meeting included representatives from policing, security, the railways, retailers, hospitality and Universities. Later that day Titus attended a networking event at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted by LCCI Business Crime Committee and their Chair Amy Green.
On the 12th June Lisa travelled to Gloucestershire to speak at the ORIS Forum conference. Her talk was titled ‘What fighting retail crime together looks like.’ During which she outlined the work taking place nationally through the Tackling Retail crime Together strategy and engagement with UK Policing to improve how retail crime is tackled and the work taking place to improve information sharing and stronger cross border collaboration.
Mid-month Titus met with senior members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland during a visit to London during which a number of points and issues were discussed to ensure that the strongest partnership and consistency exist going forward. On the 20th June, Titus headed to Northampton for the ECR Loss ‘Innovation in retail video summit’ during which Titus was able to give a quick overview of the Tackling Retail Crime Together strategy. The two-day summit brought together retailers to share ideas about how innovation is addressing retail crime through technology advancements and partnership working. There was also a chance to visit a number of Retailer’ Security Operation Centres to showcase the work they are doing in this space.
Finally in May the NBCC hosted two online sessions of their Knowledge Series which brings together the various Police Retail Crime SPOCs to empower and educate them concerning the emerging themes and current conversations taking place. This month we had the charity Revolving Doors talking about the work they are doing to divert and support offenders to address their addiction and criminality. Secondly, we had representatives from the Police Digital Public Contact Team to discuss the early stages of the journey they have commenced to improve the reporting of retail crime nationally.
